The same intake at five kinds of site

A plant, a warehouse, a port terminal, a construction site and an airport cargo shed run this intake the same way. A contractor presents people, someone photocopies the documents, fills in a register, and adds a wage account to a list. Because the same desk turns up in all five, this page sits under use cases and belongs to no single industry.

The site carries responsibility for engaging labour through licensed contractors and for the registers that record it. It has no independent evidence that the people on the register are who the photocopies say they are.

Onboarding a contract worker at intake

Run these three steps at the desk, before the worker reaches the floor and the payroll.

  1. Read the documents at the desk

    OCR reads the printed fields while the worker is standing there. The record starts as data. The photocopy is no longer the site’s only evidence.

  2. Verify whichever document the worker holds

    Many line workers hold one identity document and not another. Checking PAN, Voter ID and driving license records covers a whole intake instead of the workers who happen to hold one document.

  3. Bind the document to the person

Limits

What this does not cover

Contractor licences and site registrations are issued and tracked by the licensing authority. Reading a licence document captures what the document says, and nothing in this catalog checks it against that registry.

Provident fund and insurance enrolment status, and criminal antecedent checks, sit outside the catalog as well. A site that needs those runs them separately.
